If the buzz in the industry trade circle is any indication, then another star kid is gearing up for a launch in the movies. Boney Kapoor and Sridevi's daughter Jhanavi is the next pedigree to follow in her parents' footsteps. The film is an expensive socio-fantasy extravaganza in Telugu opposite Chiranjeevi's son, Ramcharan Teja. According to our source, "Producer Ashwini Dutt is planning a sequel to his 1991 Chiranjeevi-Sridevi film, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, which was later dubbed in Hindi as Aadmi Aur Apsara. The idea is to recreate the Chiranjeevi-Sridevi magic and that's why Jhanavi comes into the picture opposite Ramcharan Teja." Write choice The script is currently being worked on and the film will go into production only in the second half of next year. Our source informs that the director is yet to be finalised, though K Raghavendra Rao, who helmed the Telugu original, may be brought on board for the sequel. Earlier, this year, there were reports that Jhanavi would make her debut opposite Akhil, son of Nagarjuna. But apparently, Ramcharan is being preferred now, after his film, Magadhjeera became a huge hit last year, following a successful debut with Chiruta in 2007.When contacted, Boney Kapoor said, "It's still too early for Jhanavi to think about acting.

On Wednesday (August 12) morning they approached the family court in Egmore in Chennai and have applied for a “divorce by mutual consent”. According to sources close to the couple, they had been drifting apart during the last one year. The grapevine has it that singer and actress Andrea who was doing Selvaraghavan’sAayirathil Oruvan was having an affair with the director. One day during the shoot of the film in Hyderabad, Sonia is reported to have barged into the sets and slapped Andrea! Close friends tried to intervene and save the marriage, but it was too late as the relationship was going downhill. Selva was not keen that Sonia continues her career as actress and made his displeasure clear when she started doing a television serial. For the last few weeks, they have been living separately. Sonia was initially reluctant for a divorce, and tried for patch up. However finally she agreed for a “divorce by mutual consent”, as she realized that the marriage was heading nowhere and did not want a “messy separation”. Selva and Sonia got officially married in style on December 15, 2006 at Rajah Muthiah Chettiyar Hall in Egmore, Chennai in the presence of 'Super Star' Rajinikanth and attended by the who's who of Kollywood. Before getting married they were living together for nearly four years, and it was on Sonia’s insistence that the relationship was legalised. Selva first met Sonia in early 2002, when he signed her up for his path breaking Kadhal Konden, opposite his brother Dhanush. It was her debut film in Tamil and released on July 4, 2003 and went on to become a sensational super hit. Sonia subsequently went on to become a star and was paired with Vijay, Silambarasan, Ravi Krishna, Srikanth, Jeevan and Arya.
It’s official! Tamil cinema’s top director Selvaraghavan has split with his wife Sonia Aggarwal.

Discussions were on with Hindi film star Shahid Kapoor and Slumdog Millionaire fame Dev Patel for the film and the shooting of Telugu version would begin in August, he said. “There is no need for a superstar for the success of a film. What really matters is the storyline and how you deliver it to the people,” he said on the success of Nadodikal, made by the team that produced Subramanyapuram.
Nadodikal, a film about friendship, is doing a good business in 126 cinema halls across Tamil Nadu. Samudrakani said that an important feature about the film was that one of the heroines Abhinaya was deaf and dumb. “It was a challenge to all of us. She had acted very well in the film,” he said. The cast and crew of the film, released in 30 theatres in the state, were in the city for promoting it. Asked about his next project, he said, he was working on a story for which Sasikumar, who did the main role in Nadodikal, will be signed for the lead role.

Recently the great poet and lyricist had impressed our Superstar Rajinikanth. Vairamuthu has penned the lyrics for few songs in Rajni’s ‘Endhiran’. Endhiran, meaning Robot, tells the story of a man who invents a robot. To suit the situation, Vairamuthu had written that as the robot is invented by a man, it has ‘father tongue’ and not ‘mother tongue’. Rajnikanth was bowled over this and wondered at Vairamuthu’s intelligence. A humble Vairamuthu said that even the director Shankar and Superstar were to share the appreciation for this line. Well, we all are highly impressed with you sir, for all the memorable songs you have given so far.
Kaviyarasu Vairamuthu is truly a magician of lyrics. His abundant literary works and countless musical compositions are priceless treasures of Tamil cinema.

Initial reports from the Athirapply forest area, where Mani Ratnam’s Raavan team had been camping to shoot the film, suggested that a wild elephant entered the shooting spot and created a ruckus. However, news has been trickling in from reliable sources that the elephant that went wild was a trained one used for the shooting. Unfortunately, the mahout lost his life trying to control the elephant.
Meanwhile, when this news reached the Animal Welfare Board of India, they have issued a notice to the director seeking explanation on using an elephant without the Board’s prior approval. Wonder what would be Mani’s reply.
