Initial reports from the Athirapply forest area, where Mani Ratnam’s Raavan team had been camping to shoot the film, suggested that a wild elephant entered the shooting spot and created a ruckus. However, news has been trickling in from reliable sources that the elephant that went wild was a trained one used for the shooting. Unfortunately, the mahout lost his life trying to control the elephant.
Meanwhile, when this news reached the Animal Welfare Board of India, they have issued a notice to the director seeking explanation on using an elephant without the Board’s prior approval. Wonder what would be Mani’s reply.
