It was an enlightening evening as the India chapter of the International Advertising Association announced what could be India’s largest service communication programme — ‘Lighting a Billion Lives’
Hosted by IAA President Raj Nayak and conceptualised by Dr Rajendra Pachauri, Director General, The Energy Resources Institute, the event was all about spreading awareness about renewable sources of energy, the aim being to sponsor villages affected by this crippling problem.
The evening began with a poignant poem penned and recited by Prasoon Joshi. Listening intently was chief guest Dr Farooq Abdullah and guest of honour Asin; you could see the ‘light’ in her eyes as she reiterated that the three most important words for any actor were ‘lights, camera, action!’ and that without electricity (light) she would not be where she is today! Interesting.
Other guests were primarily from the advertising and media field (Lara Balsara and father Sam Balsara and Madhukar Kamat) and a sprinkling of Bollywood with Mahesh Bhatt and wife Soni Razdan, Nandini Sen and Neena Gupta.
